Tributes & Messages
Leaving messages of love and remembrance
What are tributes?
Tributes are personal messages left by family members, friends, colleagues, and anyone who wishes to pay their respects on a memorial page. They appear in the Tribute Wall section of each memorial and are visible to all visitors.
Tributes can be written messages, shared memories, words of comfort, or simply an expression of love. There is no right or wrong way to leave a tribute — only what feels meaningful to you.
How to leave a tribute message
Visit the memorial page
Navigate to the memorial either through a shared link, your dashboard, or by browsing. The public URL for any memorial can be shared freely.
Find the Tribute Wall
Scroll down the memorial page to the Tribute Wall section. You will see existing tributes from others and a prompt to add your own.
Click "Leave a Tribute"
Click the button to open the tribute form. You will need to be logged in. If you are not, you will be prompted to log in or create a free account.
Write your message
Type your message in the text field. Share a memory, offer condolences, describe the person's impact on your life, or simply say that you are thinking of the family.
Submit
Click "Post Tribute". Your message will appear on the Tribute Wall immediately and will remain there permanently.
Lighting a virtual candle
Lighting a candle is a simple, meaningful act of remembrance. Every candle lit on a memorial is counted and displayed, showing the community of people who hold that person in their heart.
Find the candle section
On the memorial page, look for the Candles section. It shows the total number of candles lit and a button to light your own.
Click "Light a Candle"
Click the candle icon or the button. You may be asked to log in if you are not already.
Add an optional message
You can leave a short message with your candle — a name, a thought, or a few words. This is optional.
Confirm
Click "Light Candle". Your candle is added to the memorial and will remain lit permanently.
Managing tributes on your memorial
As the memorial owner or an Admin, you can view and moderate all tributes on your memorial pages from the Tributes section in the sidebar.
- The Tributes page in the sidebar shows all tributes across all your memorials.
- You can remove any tribute that is inappropriate, spam, or that you wish to take down.
- Tributes left by visitors who are not members of your account cannot be edited — only removed.
- The memorial owner is notified when new tributes are left (if notifications are enabled in Settings).
The Activity Feed
The Activities page in the sidebar gives you a chronological feed of everything that has happened across your memorials — new tributes, candles lit, photos added, and obituaries published. It is the easiest way to stay connected with what friends and family are contributing.
